XMODS EVO MOSFET Upgrade
MOSFET Upgrade, what is it?
Back in late August, 2005 I did some work with the XMODS EVO PCB and figured out a set of MOSFETS that improved the performance of the electronics. I also found that the MOSFETS can be easily stacked on top of each other to improve performance even further.
The stock MOSFETS of the EVO PCB can handle a lot of hot motors that the original XMODS PCB could not. Couple this with the easy to change plastic pinions and it makes the XMODS EVO even easier to upgrade to a hot motor.
Given this, it's still a very viable option to upgrade the EVO PCB's MOSFETS to the new and improved ones I've found.
Upgrading the MOSFETS adds the following advantages.
Improved torque, more power off the line.
Greater efficiency, runs cooler, less power dissipated.
Ability to stack MOSFETS for increased performance.
Increased runtime on the stock RS motors (Stage 1 and 2)
What MOSFETS are used?
I've found these MOSFETS to be the best replacement ones out there at time of writing.
PA1764/PA1770 are the stock MOSFETS in the EVO PCB. They carry a certain amount of resistance known as Rds(on). This resistance needs to be minimised to improve the performance of the EVO PCB. I have chosen two sets of MOSFETS for each type as excellent replacements to the stock ones.
As you can see the resistance of these replacement MOSFETS is just under half of the stock MOSFETS. Without going into electronics theory and Ohms Law, I'll tell you that this is a much better setup over the stock MOSFETS.

Motor & Power Configurations?
I have tested the following motor/power combo's on the XMOD EVO with the new MOSFETS with success. Use this as a baseline when planning what motor and power combo you want to use.
